The Grains of Paradise are very small seeds with a lot of power. They can be used to bring or get rid of an influence. Three seeds can be placed into the workers mouth while they pray to be rid of an influence, and they are spit out at a crossroads or a river running away from the worker. If you have something you are working to make happen, pray with three seeds in your mouth, and then chew and swallow them. In legal cases, Grains of Paradise are powerful when held in the space between the cheek and the gums until the case is won during the trial. This was one of Marie Laveau's favorite workings.
